Introduction
The United States has signed
treaties with most of the other countries in the world, in
particular treaties of 'Friendship, Commerce and Navigation'.
These treaties are designed to promote trade and investment
between the USA and the other contracting state, encouraging
good relations and peace. Investors from qualifying
countries with such Treaties may apply for an E2 visa to work
in the USA in order to 'Direct and Develop' their investment.
The E-2 visa is often the most
appropriate visa for investors buying their own business or
establishing a new one in the United States and it is an
extremely useful means by which individuals from Great Britain
and other treaty nations can remain in the United Sates for an
indefinite period due to them having made an investment in a
US based business. There is no restriction on the type
of business that may be used. Given the proven success
of and the forecasted growth in the
Florida business and real
estate investment markets, coupled with the excellent
exchange rates and low mortgage interest rates, now is a
fantastic time to consider Florida's business and real estate
investment opportunities!
Eligibility
A national of a country with
which the United States maintains a treaty of commerce and
navigation, such as the United Kingdom, and who wishes to go
to the United States to develop and direct the operations of
an enterprise in which the national has invested or is in the
process of investing a substantial amount of capital, may
qualify for a nonimmigrant Treaty Investor visa. If you
are a British citizen, and resident in the U.K., you are
eligible to apply for an E-2 visa.
Time Limits
Holders of E visas may reside
in the United States as long as they continue to maintain
their status with the enterprise.
